Yet another new domain extension
The .tel domain names will be available from this afternoon. Apparently they will cost $210 for 3 years and then $20 a year after that. Does anyone else think these new domain extensions are just a scam to make money? The only extension that people really value continues to be .com. I would spend my money getting more of those…

Another Tech Crash?
Is the technology industry headed for a worse downturn than the one that followed the internet crash in 2001? No, back then revenues declined by 6% after rising by 17% the year before. In 2009 most analysts are forecasting modest growth - but growth all the same - of 3%. And this includes all technology spend including hardware - it’s likely that spend on digital services will grow faster.

Novel Idea For Google Maps
While there are a wealth of possible applications for data visualization/location based services, using the technology to write a short story isn’t one that immediately springs to mind. But that’s exactly what publishing giant Penguin is doing as part of its We Tell Stories digital fiction initiative. The 21 Steps by Charles Cumming is a short story that was written for a Google Maps...

This is interesting on a number of levels, namely: 1. This is a sign that Silverlight isn’t ready for prime-time on mobile devices 2. The...

3, 2, 1, Ignition.....
Today marks the official launch of the World Archipelago blog and to celebrate the occasion we created a life-sized model of a Norwegian cruise liner out of old business cards, and attempted to smash a bottle of Chateau de Sunny Delight against the side of it. We would have posted a picture but unfortunately the one person with a camera is stuck to the floor in artificially colored orange beverage...
